Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk…with Philip Pullman’s recent re-release of the Brothers Grimm, people are once again talking about the incredible power and endurance of fairly tales–and as someone who reads these same stories to a two year old on nightly basis, I can only agree.
I don’t know exactly what it is, perhaps some special mix of magic, darkness, and triumph, but these classic stories just never seem to grow old or boring. Let’s just say that if they were a TV series, they would NEVER be cancelled. Now that is something to strive for,
