I have a son. He’s two, and at least once a day I feel like locking myself in the bathroom so that I can write for more than five seconds without him thrusting small plastic animals on my keyboard and demanding we play zookeeper again.
With the many demands of being a mom, the task of completing a novel manuscript sometimes feels overwhelming–impossible even. But that doesn’t mean it is.
I remember reading in an article once that JK Rowling, arguably one of the most successful writers of our time—drafted her first Harry Potter manuscript as a single mother on the dole, working primarily during nap times. Pretty damn impressive.
So thank you JK Rowling, you inspire me.
