I may not believe in Santa Claus anymore and those carols they have been pumping into Winners for the entire month of December are definitely starting to irritate me and I never did much care for candy canes so why would I want one in my mocha–however last night I discovered my Christmas magic.
Once a year the VanDusen Botanical Gardens, a 22 hectare garden in south Vancouver, strings their massive collection of fancy ferns and exotic trees with hundreds of thousands of lights. The result is a sparkly spectacular-ness which practically made me burst into Jingle Bells on the spot. It was totally and utterly gorgeous, and reminded me that Christmas isn’t just about giving and sharing X boxes, it’s about giving and sharing beauty–in all its forms.
So thank you Festival of Lights, you inspire me.
My husband and I went to Van Dusen Gardens a few years ago and we loved it. We wanted to take our two granddaughters this year but the weather really conspired against us every free night we had while visiting – it is definitely on the list for another visit – a magical must see.
So true, glad you got a chance to see it! It’s def one of my favorites, but then I am quite the sucker for anything sparkly.
