At a writer’s event I attended last summer, a celebration of Christianne’s Lyceum of Literature of Art, I had the good fortune of meeting Carrie Mac–author of numerous award winning YA novels including The Gryphon Project. While we exchanged only a few words what really stuck with my afterwards was the fact that Carrie arrived at the event wearing two babies on her back.

I only have one little person in my life and often think writing and motherhood are mutually exclusive endeavors. As Carrie’s publishing success and load-carrying capacity showed me that afternoon, it doesn’t have to be that way.

So thank you Carrie Mac, you inspire me.
