The only thing worse than getting dumped by your boyfriend right before the holiday is getting dumped by your literary agent. I know, I have experienced both.
My three-year long long relationship with a certain BC-based agency was terminated earlier this month after the agent representing me decided to retire. At least that was the official line—I can’t help but wonder if that wasn’t jut agency-speak for ‘its not you it’s me, which is just people talk for It’ SOOO you.
Did I send her too many mediocre manuscripts? Did I sound too needy in the last pitch? Was it my formatting? ! Why didn’t I double space!?
I don’t know what I did wrong but I suppose it doesn’t really matter. Break-ups suck. Getting getting back out there to show the world how awesome you can be when you still kind of feel like crap, isn’t easy. However, if there is one thing that I learned from having my heart broken just before Christmas the first time, is that some things just weren’t meant to be.
I am so sorry to hear this! I am sure there is another waiting for you out there! ❤
Thanks Mia!
