Every cloud has a silver lining—or, in this case–a set of bare, chiseled abs.
Entrenched in the dreaded manuscript-flog-phase I have spent the last few weeks researching agencies, compiling query letters and then receiving rejections from said query letters. And though it can be a little disheartening to read an inbox full of “Its not you, it’s us’s” every time I open my email, the process has lead me to discover something wonderful: the new adult genre.
According to Alexandra Maurer, NA is like YA, but drunk and with fewer clothes on. Okay, I may be paraphrasing, but from what I have gathered, the seemingly underlying concept of this genre is total freedom from all the restrictions and taboos of YA. As much as I love the YA genre, who wouldn’t want to include a few chicks tripping on acid in their party scenes?
Ha, I knew I had all that fun in my twenties for a reason: research!
