Her attire is not nearly as entrancing as some of her compatriots, however The Paper Bag Princess has something that most of them don’t: honey badger tenacity.

The protagonist of this Robert Munsch story is not only able to pick herself up from the ashes (literally), and outsmart a dragon, but best of all, she stands up to the supposed man of her dreams and tells him to take a hike. Add a bow an arrow, and I have no doubt she would have kicked ass in those games, too.

Though a part of me loves Cinderella and all her sparkly wonder, this is the kind of girl that I have always wanted to be, and not surprisingly, always wanted to write about.

So thank you Paper Bag Princess, you inspire me.
