Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Arial. I love them all dearly, however after watching Brave last week I have to say they seem a little…boring. But before you think I’m about to go all anti-passive-female-prototype on you, it’s not their personalities or even their story lines that bother me so much: it’s their hair.
Disney’s trademark long sweeping sheet of smooth and monotone, hair simply looks stale and lifeless compared to Princess Merida’s lovely locks, which dance like ocean anemones in every scene of the movie–each delicate curl moving with it’s own unique and brilliant hue, rhythm and shape. Pixar really has taken the art of animation, and hair styling, to a whole new level with this one.
So thank you Merida, you inspire me.
My four-year-old granddaughter, Emma and I love Merida and her hair and the entire story of Brave! She is hands down the best Disney princess of all time!
So true! Who else could rock that blue gown and kick ass in archery at the same time?!
